Final Makeup Project Proposal
For my final makeup project I want to do the character Ursula from the movie The Little Mermaid. I plan to apply a short hair white wig to satisfy the wig application as a major skill we learned this semester. I also plan to change the height of my eyebrows and the shape and size of my lips by using 2D makeup. I also plan to add to add to my cheeks and create an overhanging brow bone with the use of wax (3D makeup).

Semester Reflection
When I first came into this class my knowledge of makeup consisted of what I had learned from my friends in high school. I had seen a few makeup tutorial videos here and there, but really my first real experience with stage makeup was in our Production of Silent Sky in 2018. That show introduced me to slight old age makeup, and I distinctly remember being intrigued by the way simple shadows and highlights could change your entire perception of someone's face. I had a lot of ambitious ideas coming into this course, and although I didn't perfect any of my looks I was still impressed by ability to grasp and sketch a general concept, and then apply the basic elements of the design. For example, one of my first looks when I blocked out my eyebrows and tried to create a "drag" look, I didn't appear fabulous, but I still pulled of blocking my eyebrows and contouring my features to look sharper and smaller. What I love the most about being able to see my process through photos is seeing exactly where it was in my steps that I made a mistake, or places where I would have done something different looking back on it. I think I was naturally very comfortable with blending, contouring and shading. There are still some parts of my face I struggle to work with though: my nose and lips. I don't think I ever really found a proper way to reshape my nose and lips comfortable, and I was never satisfied with my results when altering these parts of my face. In the future I think this is one of many facets of stage makeup I have room for growth in. Overall, I am pleased with my natural ability to translate my ideas into designs and applications fairly seamlessly and I hope I have more opportunities to explore this area of Theatre.
