Here you will find some Entries from my Journal, which consists of mostly things on my mind that occur from a certain prompt given to our class.
Journal Entry 1:
Prompt: Our lives are made up of moments.
I think our lives consist of what we make of it, and what we want it to be. There are many "moments" in our lives, but why do we need to identify or explain what our life is? It's different to all of us. For some people, life is a game, and you can only win or lose. To others life is a giant experiment, and test all aspects that are questionable. To me life is a privilege. I understand how some people look at how much negativity surrounds us, but I see beauty in it. The fact that we have the privilege to learn, and to experience, and to choose, I believe life is made up of chances, and experiences. We are not always aware of certain moments in our life, and many moments aren't within our control. We are however aware of the chances we are given, and we can re-call certain experiences that impacted them. There are so many words to describe a moment.
Journal Entry 7:
Prompt: Technology and the human condition.
Technology can be so useful. It can help with so many things. Technology is overrated and it destroys us. We are to cowardly to speak with someone, so why not send them a message? If it's easier, why not choose it right? So many good things, yet horrible drawbacks. We've used technology to make life more complicated than it needs to be. We save people with technology, but we also kill. The simplicity of life before technology is what I love must. Life would be simpler in many ways without technology, but without technology, we lose our easy way out. Everyone could be doing something, but they are distracted by screens. We rely on something that's not necessary. I rely on technology because it's current. I cannot communicate with others in person as much because they won't reciprocate. I have too many thoughts on this topic to express.
Journal Entry 14:
Prompt: Is there something people don't understand about you?
People don't understand that I don't take sides, have a specific group, or have a style. people don't get how open I am to others. I admit, I tend to be more comfortable towards certain people and things, but who isn't? I've also never been a person to take sides, especially involving peer disagreements, although I will give my honest opinion to people. Most of all, people don't understand that I'm not afraid to do the right thing, or object to doing something I'm uncomfortable with. I also take no interest in forming a new personality because someone prefers it, and I'm not scared to hold my ground on a decision I make and believe in.
What I Wonder About
I tend to let my mind wander when I'm uninterested in the present situation. I wonder about how we got to be where we are. We all started off in a world that was so simple, and as we evolved, so did the complications of life. The things I've grown up knowing, that I think are important, are they really? I often imagine a place where there are less people, and everything I stress over and worry for aren't important. How were we able to create importance? And that things that came along with it? When you really think about the meaning of things, they don't mean anything. We created meaning, and how much it matters. It wouldn't have been necessary for people in the past to worry about getting into a good college. Everything we are surrounded by, is something we've claimed or created, and decided for an unknown reason that it symbolizes importance. We've attached meaning to everything. This thought makes me feel grateful yet horrified. Grateful that we try so hard for nothing to go unnoticed, horrified that having original opinions about defined things are mute.
