The God Cluster
The God Cluster, written by Ernie Lijoi, is a "queer pandemic revenge tragedy" that forces the audience to question their own beliefs. In this play, produced by Fuse Theatre and directed by Melory Mirashrafi, I played Adala Nasir, a young female doctor beginning her internship with her childhood hero, Dr. Lee. Throughout this show we watch Dr. Nasir question her own beliefs as she continues to discover the truth about who Dr. Lee really is and how far she'll go to protect herself.

Sweat
In the Fall of 2019, I was cast as Cynthia in Linfield's production of Sweat. Cynthia works in Reading, Pennsylvania during the 2008 recession alongside her closest friends, Tracy and Jessie. Despite their relationship, thinks get murky when Cynthia is given a promotion at the steel mill and Tracy believes racial preferences are to blame. In this show we watch falling outs between mothers, sons, husbands, friends, and co-workers and are forced to reflect on our biases and priorities.

Cabaret
In the Spring of 2019, I was cast as Fraülein Schneider in Linfield's production of Cabaret. Fraülein Schneider lives in Berlin, Germany and rents our her rooms to make a living. The people that come through her door are interesting characters: hookers, nazis, market owners, and more. Schneider feels that difficulty of that time period as her new gentleman interest is jewish, and cannot guarantee her safety if they were to get married. Amongst the other story lines, Cabaret is a seedy, fun, yet depressing production that highlights the demons we have overcome, yet still are working on erasing entirely.

Silent Sky
In the Spring of 2018, I was cast as the character Henrietta Leavitt in Linfield's production of Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson. This play is based Henrietta Leavitt's discovery of how to measure the distance between us and stars. As a female astronomer working at the Harvard Observatory, she was given little to no credit for her work, in a field dominated by men. Lauren Gunderson's interpretation of Henrietta Leavitt's life includes a sister (Margaret), three other women she worked with (who may or may not have been actual people), and a love interest named Peter Shaw. This small group work together to connect the dots in the sky, and tries to understand the world as a phenomena.

2B OR NOT 2B?
|
In the Fall of 2019 I directed the short scene "2B OR NOT 2B" by Jacquelyn Reingold. This scene takes place in Franny’s apartment in New York City. As she is on the phone trying to win back her ex-boyfriend, a human-sized bee enters in through her bathroom window. Franny is rattled and confused as she tries to coax the bee out of her apartment, only for him to respond. Franny reflects on her romantic history as Dave the Bee convinces her to abandon her life as a human and become the Queen of his beehive.
