Rock Climbing
Intersession is an opportunity to meet people from different grades for a week to participate in fun school activities. This year I was put In Rock Climbing, and on here you can view how my experience went!
Day One: Vital Rock Climbing Gym
I loved how much freedom we had at the gym. The ability to climb when we wanted to or sit and rest and socialize. Climbing was a lot of fun, although challenging, that's also what makes it more fun! I really enjoyed trying to climb in different areas, and having the freedom to go out to lunch. Bouldering was a new experience for me, and it was kind of scary. I prefer rock climbing with a harness (because it's easier), but I'm also glad I tried something new.
Day Two: Torrey Pines
Absent
Day Three: Moonlight Beach
Our day long beach trip was very relaxed and fun. We were free to get food, and enjoy the beach on our own time. I was able to bond with new people during this experience, and that's what I enjoyed the most. I think if we were to take another beach trip, I would want to be there a little later in the day, and stay until later as well.
Day Four: The Wall Rock Climbing Gym
At the wall, there were so many new paths to try, and I loved how organized they were by difficulty. It was such a pretty gym, and you could work out, or slack line, or even make food! The wall had lots of paths, and a lot of them were easy enough for me to finish, and that made me feel very successful. I wasn't able to stay the whole time, but I think we spent a little too much time at the gym. It's tiring to climb for even thirty minutes, so I think next time we should keep in mind a realistic amount of time to spend there.
Intersession 2016 Reflection:
Next year I need to remember to keep and open mind, and to be brave and meet new people. Although we shouldn't base intersessions based on our friends, it's often not as fun when you're alone. I want to make sure I have at least one person I'm comfortable around, and then still socialize and meet more people. I also want to take more pictures with people and continue to make new memories.
